INTAGLIO
INTAGLIO PRINTMAKING & HANDMADE PAPER
INSTRUCTOR: CATALINA STRATIENCO
In intaglio printmaking, the image is created by carving the plate with etching tools, inking the plate, and pressing damp paper onto to the plate to pick up the ink. This technique allows the artist to create delicate, complex line work. Using the dry point method, with etching needles and drypoint plastic, this method is a new way to expand the printmaking experience. Adding to the handmade fun, we will spend some time creating handmade papers. We are using 7”x5” plates. If you would like to experiment planning some designs prior to class, keep your drawings within these dimensions.
